"text": "Ever since I moved to an unjailbroken iphone from Android (and jailbroken iphone) i missed a couple of things. especially lack of full libusb. Couldn't connect a software defined radio to my phone, couldn't flash any phone with my phone, lost a very useful, versatile feature.\n\nWhen my bag broke, i decided to also customize it a little bit on top of fixing. I thought it'd be cool to have something like a PCB hanging round, since it looks cool. But i remembered about my huge hassle with the iphone, lack of full USB, so i decided to fix both of those wants. I printed out a cover to the side with components, as to not destroy any, added it on a keychain, and left it on there. i also built an usbc-microusb adapter, so that i can USB connect it to my phone/battery bank.\n\nIt defaults to be a USB guest, emulating Ethernet, and when i manually set up addressing, with leaving router empty, i can connect to my pi while keeping 5g.\nCurrently it's just a PoC, as so I wanted to see how reliably it works, so currently i got only ssh and vnc set up with Raspbian, but it works really reliably, boots up after around a minute from plugging in, and lets my iphone SSH/VNC into it.\n\nI already have plans on setting up these things:\n\n- USB DVD drive emulator to be able to boot ISOs on devices that don't do booting from USB drives\n- A crappy slow little NAS to transfer things with my classmates\n- A stupid little device for BLE/Wifi pranks \n- simple way to jailbreak/flash iOS devices\n- portable thing for fastboot+heimdall \n- always on hand SPI flasher",

"title": "My Raspberry Pi Camera",
"link": "https://www.reddit.com/r/Cameras/comments/1whvg14/my_raspberry_pi_camera/",
"type": "gallery",
"text": "I started this project a couple of months ago from the CinePi GitHub and was intrigued on how they work so I decided to give it a try building one.\n\nIt starts with a basic 4GB Raspberry Pi 5 which runs a custom version of PiOS created by Apertar Studio (they also supply their own camera body STL’s and parts guides!) and it runs perfectly on the 720x720 4 inch Waveshare or Hyperpixel square displays.\n\nThe Apertar OS shows a live preview of the camera, includes photo and video modes, focus peaking, media library and much more... it also has a super clean GUI that’s easy to navigate and has an IOS feel and look to it.\n\nMy camera is based on the Blackmagic Micro cinema camera body which I have adapted to fit a Raspberry Pi 5 and button controls for ISO, White Balance, FPS and power on/off. When the main 4 inch display is detached you can see current settings from the OLED screen at the top of the camera which also shows a recording indicator and remaining storage.\n\nThe main camera body is 3D printed from PLA-CF to resemble the textured finish of cameras but also to add a lot of strength and rigidity to the body and only took around 3 hours to print the front and rear parts.\n\nIt is powered from a 10,000mAh battery pack which lasts for 4-5 hours and can be detached from the camera, there is also a single 1/4” - 20 mount on the top and 3 more at the bottom for tripods or other accessories.\n\nThe camera module is the Raspberry Pi High Quality Camera (IMX477) with a Canon EF mount adapter which is partially integrated into the camera body for a cleaner look. Some additional features include a full sized HDMI output and 5V USB-C out for powering a display or other accessories.\n\nAdmittedly the quality does not rival a regular camera in any way, it is very much a DIY project and could not be used for professional photography however it can take some great “vintage” looking shots also depending on whatever lens is used.\n\nIf you have read this far then thank you! If you want something to build as a challenge or are just simply looking for your next project then this is great to do, the CinePi and Apertar Studio community is fantastic and helped me with a lot of information that I needed to get this working.",
"text_html": "<!-- SC_OFF --><div class=\"md\"><p>I started this project a couple of months ago from the CinePi GitHub and was intrigued on how they work so I decided to give it a try building one.</p>\n\n<p>It starts with a basic 4GB Raspberry Pi 5 which runs a custom version of PiOS created by Apertar Studio (they also supply their own camera body STL’s and parts guides!) and it runs perfectly on the 720x720 4 inch Waveshare or Hyperpixel square displays.</p>\n\n<p>The Apertar OS shows a live preview of the camera, includes photo and video modes, focus peaking, media library and much more... it also has a super clean GUI that’s easy to navigate and has an IOS feel and look to it.</p>\n\n<p>My camera is based on the Blackmagic Micro cinema camera body which I have adapted to fit a Raspberry Pi 5 and button controls for ISO, White Balance, FPS and power on/off. When the main 4 inch display is detached you can see current settings from the OLED screen at the top of the camera which also shows a recording indicator and remaining storage.</p>\n\n<p>The main camera body is 3D printed from PLA-CF to resemble the textured finish of cameras but also to add a lot of strength and rigidity to the body and only took around 3 hours to print the front and rear parts.</p>\n\n<p>It is powered from a 10,000mAh battery pack which lasts for 4-5 hours and can be detached from the camera, there is also a single 1/4” - 20 mount on the top and 3 more at the bottom for tripods or other accessories.</p>\n\n<p>The camera module is the Raspberry Pi High Quality Camera (IMX477) with a Canon EF mount adapter which is partially integrated into the camera body for a cleaner look. Some additional features include a full sized HDMI output and 5V USB-C out for powering a display or other accessories.</p>\n\n<p>Admittedly the quality does not rival a regular camera in any way, it is very much a DIY project and could not be used for professional photography however it can take some great “vintage” looking shots also depending on whatever lens is used.</p>\n\n<p>If you have read this far then thank you! Built with a Raspberry Pi 5, an Inky Impression 13.3\" e-ink display and a USB microphone. It uses BirdNET-Go to identify birds outside, and the frame will draw whichever ones it has heard recently. \n\nI use an USB lavalier mic with a long thin cable, taped under the roof outside and run in through the window. Thin enough that the window still closes on it. Everything (including the detection model) runs locally on the Pi and works fully offline.\n\nWhat sets it apart from other similar bird projects is the art and the foundation. Every bird is a hand-curated cut-out from an 1800s natural-history scan, no AI-generated images. [BirdNET-Go](https://github.com/tphakala/birdnet-go) builds a strong foundation that this sits on top of, including location-based detections, language support, listening to multiple audio-sources, IOT integrations and much much more.\n\nBirdNET works worldwide, but the art is mostly European birds (for now). North American ones are in the pipeline. Right now I'm sitting at 37 different species on \\~2600 detections. \n \nSource and docs: [https://github.com/arnegiacomo/fugleramme](https://github.com/arnegiacomo/fugleramme) \nLive from my kitchen window: [https://fugleramme.arnegiacomo.dev](https://fugleramme.arnegiacomo.dev) \nParts list, cost and full build docs: [https://arnegiacomo.dev/fugleramme/hardware/](https://arnegiacomo.dev/fugleramme/hardware/)\n\nHappy to answer any questions about the build!",
