With her second full-length, she takes listeners on an ambitious journey through her record collection and her mind.\n\nNods to soul classics by the likes of Brandy, Kenny Lattimore, and Asfhord & Simpson dot the album, but Monét shows that her musical palette is wide. On “Care For Somebody (Interlude),” her voice curls around lyrics inspired by the 20th-century standard “Somebody,” while the heart-eyed Bruno Mars duet “That’s Why I Love You” spins out of the ’60s bolero-pop cut “Ritornerai.”\n\nIn addition to Mars, Monét’s guests include SZA (on the gauzy “See You in My Dreams”), Lucky Daye (on the glossy “Maybe”), Chlöe (on the kinetic house cut “Lose Myself”), and Leon Thomas and Monét’s daughter Hazel Monét (on the profession of love “You Mean the World to Me”). But Monét doesn’t let the many cameos get in the way. Whether she’s leading gospel choirs or meticulously detailing her bedroom demands, Monét shows that her vision is boundless."

"full": "The past few years have been heavy for Quavo, who lost his nephew and Migos groupmate, Takeoff, in 2022. The relationship between the trio had already been strained, with each member focusing on his own solo material and Quavo and Takeoff branching off for a joint album earlier that year. But with Takeoff’s tragic death, Migos effectively ended amid rumors of tension between Quavo and Offset.\n\nQuavo’s previous solo record, 2023’s Rocket Power, was a grief-stricken tribute to his late nephew. Three years later, the 35-year-old rapper is still grieving, but music has helped him to push through. His third solo effort, QRÖMELIFE, honors the process of healing through expression—a journey on which Pharrell served as not just an executive producer, but also a mentor. “I appreciate my big brother Pharrell for guiding me and pushing me creatively at a time when I needed it,” Quavo shared in a September statement. Fresh off Clipse’s 2025 comeback, the Louis Vuitton creative director holed up with Quavo in the studio to make every beat on the album.\n\nThe result is the most upbeat and experimental record of Quavo’s solo career, bridging the gap between classic funk and Down South rap. He recruits T.I. for the nostalgic “Backwards,” a “Welcome to Atlanta” sequel for 2026, while “HAOYU DEWDAT” tags Yung Miami for an interpolation of Young Bleed’s 1998 No Limit sleeper hit. Quavo does his best James Brown impression on “Hit-A-Lik,” channels ’80s freestyle on “Trance (Walk It Down),” and joins forces with Justin Timberlake on the retro “House Music,” a synthwave ode to “music you buy houses with.”\n\nBut QRÖMELIFE’s biggest moment is “Away,” a sonic sequel to 2017’s “Stir Fry,” Migos’ first collaboration with Pharrell. More importantly, it’s a reunion with Offset—the first time the two have shared a track since 2021. At a listening session in LA, Offset emerged to stand beside Quavo as the song played—a small but significant gesture for the long-estranged “cousins.” It’s a milestone that makes Quavo’s line on album closer “Destined” hit different: “Remember where it started/Forever Migo gang.”"

"full": "Miranda Lambert’s 10th studio album arrived while the celebrated singer-songwriter was making history: Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas,” which Lambert co-wrote, notched its record-breaking 24th week atop the Hot 100 just days before Crisco dropped. Lambert has long been one of country’s best songwriters, and on Crisco she flaunts the power of her pen and the versatility of her winsome voice.\n\n“Cowgirl Curtsy” is a tear-in-the-beer lament about “fallin’ for a boy that hurts me,” while the determined “Till The Going’s Gone” has a nervous energy that matches its escapist lyrics. Lambert has a couple of well-chosen dance partners on Crisco: Langley drops in for the vagabond-cowgirl ode “Snakeskin Boots,” and well-traveled troubadour Chris Stapleton harmonizes blissfully with her on the synth-swaddled “A Song to Sing.” That track is followed up by Lambert’s take on Jim Croce’s 1974 hit “I’ll Have to Say I Love You In a Song,” a nod to the great songwriters of yesteryear from one of modern pop’s biggest talents."

The Day I Hang It Up is the third studio album in three years from the football player turned singer-songwriter, and it clocks in at a whopping 25 tracks.\n\nOn this LP, produced by Jay Rodgers, Adcock asserts that he’s here to stay and sums up his mission on the title track, singing, “The day I hang it up is the day I’m ridin’ out.” That kind of brassy bravado permeates the collection, like on “Lowball Me,” a grungy heartache rocker on which Adcock brags about getting dumped and “selling off her shit at pennies on the dollar.” On the playful “Workin’ Man,” Adcock swats at “clean-shaved” yuppies and imagines what life would be like as a manual laborer who’s too tough for cream in his coffee.\n\nOther standouts on the album include the Treaty Oak Revival collaboration “Us Again,” an alt-tinged situationship anthem that makes the most of the Texas country rock band’s chops, and early release “Cheap Thrills,” a duet with rising star Hudson Westbrook with crunchy dive-bar guitar and a slick, soulful vocal from Westbrook."

He continues this with Heaven on Mars, using a set of low-key sound beds to back Auto-Tuned vocals and a songwriting style that varies between hauntingly specific and lyrically abstract.\n\nOn “Astronaut Tears/Love Don’t Stay,” he intersperses verses that mournfully chronicle moving on after the loss of a loved one between vocals from a gospel choir, while “Turks & Caicos” takes street sensibilities overseas for a tropical vacation. “Agency,” meanwhile, finds NoCap emotionlessly flaunting his wealth, begging for a woman to break his heart just so he’ll feel something.\n\nBut on “Complicated,” he boasts of his success after legal troubles and being counted out. “Whole world tried to judge my wrong/All of a sudden, I’m sittin’ courtside,” he proudly declares. Through so many bouts of depression, any reason to celebrate is well-received."

"full": "It would have been a fair claim, back in 2016, to call Mac Miller the most improved rapper of the early 2010s. Over the course of five years and three albums, the Pittsburgh native fought for every bit of his steadily accruing critical acclaim, shirking off the “frat rap” label bestowed upon him around the time of Blue Slide Park (the first independently distributed debut album to top the Billboard 200 chart since 1995). Each subsequent release from Miller felt like a quantum leap in artistry, from the spacey Faces mixtape to his Delusional Thomas side-project to 2015’s GO:OD AM, a tight, honest album about trying to be a decent person. But his fourth album, 2016’s The Divine Feminine, arrived as the high-water mark for the 24-year-old rapper—a concept album about romance, intimacy, and the power of women.\n\nThe defining sound of the year 2016 was a certain warmth connecting releases by Chance the Rapper, Anderson .Paak, and even The Life of Pablo by Kanye West. These were rap albums inflected with jazz, funk, and neo-soul, arriving in the wake of Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly and indebted to the influence of LA’s jazz/rap scene. On The Divine Feminine, Miller tapped into these midtempo grooves and grown-and-sexy attitudes, basking in a contagious, open-hearted warmth alongside many of the aforementioned luminaries.\n\n.Paak, Ty Dolla $ign, and CeeLo Green delivered lusty hooks, while Robert Glasper and Thundercat contributed as performers. Lamar himself appeared on the climactic “God Is Fair, Sexy Nasty.” Still, the most scene-stealing cameo came from Ariana Grande on “My Favorite Part”—not her first duet with Miller, but their first one as an official couple.\n\nEvery song on The Divine Feminine is a love song, but none describe a perfect love, or an easy one. But maybe that part is besides the point. The love described by Miller’s grandmother in the album’s outro transcends romance and gestures toward something cosmic—a worldview that does not discount the world’s darkness, but seeks to shed light all the same. It’s a love that persists in Miller’s music, echoing in the question he poses on “Soulmate”: “When you’re gone, what will you leave behind?”\n\nA decade after its release, the album’s 10th Anniversary reissue includes three previously unreleased songs, including “Butterflies,” a neo-soul number featuring bass from Thundercat."

The record plays like a long zoom out on the four-piece’s decade-plus of poignant indie pop—credits rolling over a slow fade to black. \n\nOpener “Who Will Save You Now” sets momentum, with a skyscraping hook and verses that recall Queen’s “We Are the Champions,” giving way to a solid wave of emotive soft-rock anthems. Among them, “Without You”—a tender love song set to stripped-back acoustics—and folk-tinted carouser “Vultures” emerge as highlights, closing out on sparse, melancholic ballad “The One for Me.” It’s a memorable final bow."

"full": "Since forming a decade and a half ago, Lubbock-hailing band Flatland Cavalry have proven themselves to be seekers. Musically, the outfit continues to turn in richer variations of the pastoral, country-tinged folk rock for which they’re known and loved. In their lyrics, they’re able to connect the domestic to the existential, with a spiritual bent made more potent by frontman Cleto Cordero’s ability to express complex emotions with his nimble performances and a palpable sense of hard-earned wonder.\n\nOn Work of Heart, produced by Dwight A. Baker (Brandi Carlile, Josh Abbott Band), the band takes stock of a recent period of growth, loss, and transformation. “Gone” is part travelogue and part daydream, as Cordero takes stock of where he’s been—“drunk with buds in Dublin,” “low down in New Orleans”—and imagines himself as a colorful character drifting in and out of frame. Behind him, the band builds a vibrant backdrop for his dreamy musings, with Wesley Hall’s fiddle adding conversational flourishes. Highlights abound elsewhere on Work of Heart, like the melodic mid-album cut “Unglued,” on which Cordero earnestly asks, “Isn’t it strange how years can bring emptiness from a good thing?”\n\nThe band expands upon Work of Heart with this Heartstrings deluxe addition, adding five new tracks. “Hard Lessons” is a thoughtful ballad with lush harmonies and clever but downcast couplets like, “Unlearning hard lessons/Making friends with seasonal depression.” “Cinnamon Sugar (It’s Love)” has shades of Bob Dylan, especially in Cordero’s rich, dusky performance. The final new track is appropriately titled “One More Song,” and it ends the expanded LP on a tender note, as Cordero gently pleads for one more chance at connection."

"full": "Japanese rock-band phenomenon Mrs. GREEN APPLE (aka MGA) has been on the radar of global anime fans for years. Forming independently in 2013 and making their major-label debut under EMI Records in 2015, the Tokyo-based group rocketed to domestic and international recognition with their theme-song work for Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V and Fire Force. In 2026, they reached new heights with “Brand New,” the official Japanese theme song for superhero blockbuster Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and the opening salvo on 16-track album POPS.\n\nOn POPS, MGA’s sixth full-length album, the group slides between orchestral, electronic, and rock influences to tell a textured story of contemporary Japan. A connection to popular TV and film remains. The delicate and melodic “lulu.” is the opening theme for the second season of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, and the sentimental, strings-led track “Wind and Town” served as the theme for “morning drama” Kaze, Kaoru.\n\nBut POPS doesn’t need a visual-media vehicle to get its big emotions across. On lead single “Kyohan,” which roughly translates to “accomplice,” Motoki Ohmori’s bright vocals soar over agile jags of electric guitar."

Eight years later, that album’s spiritual sibling has arrived—and this time, Ndegeocello has invited peers like Brandi Carlile and WILLOW to the party for an all-collaborations, all-covers collection.\n\nShe and Cynthia Erivo strip the George Michael/Aretha Franklin duet “I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)” down to its essence, keeping its chorus intact while surrounding it with snatches of piano and saxophone. She subs in for Kenny Rogers while Chaka Khan takes over Dolly Parton’s part on “Islands In The Stream.” And she locks eyes with Southern Gothic singer-songwriter Cat Power on a smoldering, bass-heavy rework of The Human League’s “Don’t You Want Me.”"

"short": "Five years after HOFFA, their New York rap saga continues.",
"full": "Two key figures in New York hip-hop whose respective come-ups were tied to their shared city, Dave East and Harry Fraud rightfully earned respect amid distinct paths to success. The former, a Harlem rap hero, and the latter, a sonic architect out of Brooklyn, began building the foundation for a new mafioso rap saga with 2021’s HOFFA.\n\nJudging by the series of samples that bookend Price of Pain opener “Papaya Juice,” they remain committed to further fleshing out that thematic world on this veritable sequel. Even after a five-year wait, the contents of the project mirror the meaningfulness of their preceding work, with songs like “Minding My Business” giving East ample space to showcase his lyricism over Fraud’s fittingly cinematic beats.\n\nRiveting anecdotes from the neighborhood give “Hot Peas & Butter” and “Life Cycle” more character and heft than most modern gangster narratives tend to offer. The guests carry their share of the weight too, be that Benny the Butcher on the hustle narrative “Everything Is Up” or Styles P on the power projecting “Alley Oop.”"

"short": "The Indianapolis indie outfit makes arena-ready dream-pop a reality.",
"full": "Wishy’s second album poses a fascinating hypothesis: What if, instead of grunge disrupting popular culture in the ’90s, our shopping malls, MTV broadcasts, and teen-movie soundtracks were dominated by the sounds of shoegaze and dream-pop? On Nature’s Pill, the Indianapolis indie quintet gives these traditionally esoteric styles of wallflower music an accessible, upbeat spin by loading each of these 12 tracks with punchy pop hooks while retaining that essential hazy-headed vibe.\n\nThe opening “All the Rage” might be about feeling so numbed by a breakup that you can’t even be bothered to watch TV, yet its joyously jangly guitars and effervescent harmonies (courtesy of lead-singers/guitarists Kevin Krauter and Nina Pitchkites) make it feel like it could be the opening theme to some alternative version of Friends.\n\nBut while Nature’s Pill is packed with similarly brisk and blissful delights—like the washed-out power pop of “Lovesick”—it also betrays Wishy’s growing interest in beat science, by setting the crunchy arena-ready riffs and ecstatic chorus of “Sensational” to some bongo-slapped, Madchester-bound funk.\n\nOur Favorite Moment: When the buoyant acoustic groover “Mona Lisa” shifts into a woozy psychedelic midsection where Krauter drops an interpolation of The Velvet Underground’s “Femme Fatale.”"
