Here are the biggest hits anywhere and everywhere—and you can’t talk hits in 2025 without mentioning Sabrina Carpenter. After the massive success of her sixth album Short n’ Sweet, which spawned hits “Espresso” and “Please Please Please,” the singer-songwriter leveled up again with her seventh album Man’s Best Friend. With its brutally honest, witty, and catchy lyricism, Man’s Best Friend dominated the Apple Music charts; churned out viral anthems “Manchild,” “Tears,” and “When Did You Get Hot?”; and solidified Carpenter as a mainstay in pop music. Get familiar with Sabrina Carpenter on Today’s Hits—as if you aren’t already—and if you hear a song you like, add it to your library."

It’s Eilish’s most airy and accessible music to date, but just as importantly, it represented real growth: It’s the sound of the (now two-time) Apple Music Artist of the Year purely herself, pushing her voice and putting herself out there like never before. “It’s the highest I’ve ever belted in my life,” she told Apple Music Radio’s Zane Lowe of the song’s soaring finish. “I was alone in the dark, thinking, ‘You know what? I’m going to try something.’ And I literally just kept going higher and higher. This is a girl who could not belt until I was literally 18. I couldn’t physically do it. So I’m so proud of that. I remember coming home and being like, ‘Mom! Listen!’”"

It’s a snapshot of the zeitgeist across British dance floors since 2015, with certain genres flexing their muscles and a few key artists rising up. The playlist’s king? Step forward, Calvin Harris. His own evolution from DIY dance-pop architect to genre-surfing one-man global hit factory mirrors dance music’s own purposeful evolution through the period. Harris helped encourage A-list pop talent from Rihanna to Dua Lipa to explore dance spheres—something artists including David Guetta, Clean Bandit and Sigala have also done with extraordinary success. \n\nBut it’s not all starry hook-ups on this playlist. You’ll find reworked ’90s R 'n' B smashes, an iconic garage moment, Ibiza anthems and almost everything in between. Moreover, you’ll find memories. Memories of unforgettable nights and hazier nights, memories of car sing-alongs and holiday hits and memories you might just make this weekend. Enjoy the rarefied air of these classics here."

"full": "In a landmark year for the UK, we set ourselves a challenge. Could we—Apple Music editors and Apple Music radio hosts—arrive at a century of songs that we feel truly built the modern United Kingdom in all its diverse glory? It was, entirely predictably, one of the greatest challenges we’ve ever taken on: How do you distill 70 years of music excellence down to just 100 songs? But after much impassioned debate, here we are. Songs that, we feel, represent the key genres, talent, culture, and movements of UK music."

"full": "He may be a country singer-songwriter, but Morgan Evans’ favorite Australian songs stretch out through country, alternative, rock, and beyond. He grew up in Newcastle in the late ’80s and ’90s, and many of his picks are nostalgic favorites with special memories attached. “There are a bunch of great songs and artists missing from this list,” he tells Apple Music, “but these feel like a good mix of what I’m listening to now, music that really influenced me as a guitar player and songwriter, as well as some uniquely Aussie stuff that takes me back in the best way.” Read on for more on his favorite selections.\n\nKeith Urban, “Somebody Like You”\n“I remember the first time I heard this. It was live, at Newcastle Leagues Club, at a show mum had dragged me along to. I got the Golden Road record soon after and just became obsessed with everything about it. The songs, the guitar playing, the production—it really turned my attention to Nashville for the first time. It really changed my life.” \n\nSilverchair, “Straight Lines”\n“Diorama is my favorite album and this is my favorite Silverchair song. I remember the first time I heard it, live, at WaveAid [Festival, 2005].”\n\nThe Teskey Brothers, “Man of the Universe”\n“I discovered The Teskey Brothers at the ARIA Awards in 2019; they played ‘Rain’ and I was in. This is the perfect Sunday drive tune!”\n\nKasey Chambers & Shane Nicholson, “One More Year”\n“This might be the most underrated song of all time. It just hurts. Achingly beautiful in its simplicity.” \n\nThe Seekers, “A World of Our Own”\n“The Seekers at Newcastle Entertainment Centre was my first concert ever. Judith Durham’s voice was a staple at the Evans house, and this song was a childhood favorite.” \n\nJohn Williamson, “Rip Rip Woodchip”\n“Singing this song as a kid was the first time I heard and understood music as a vehicle for protest, change, and conservation.” \n\nThe Living End, “Second Solution”\n“That first Living End record taught me how to play guitar. This song takes me back to my first guitar, an electric-blue Strat copy, plugged into a solid-state Marshall amp turned up to 11.”\n\nPowderfinger, “These Days”\n“This song still gets better every time I hear it.”\n\nJohn Butler Trio, “Ocean”\n“This song, every version of it, just takes me somewhere. As a songwriter, I find it hard not to listen to music and analyze the lyric or the arrangement, asking myself, ‘Why do I like this?’ But this instrumental is the perfect antidote. I think John Butler is still a hugely underrated guitar player.”"

"full": "“I think everyone knows by now that I'm a rather intense human and I am drawn to emo, moody songs that make me feel something,” Amy Shark tells Apple Music. The singer-songwriter’s handpicked playlist of her favorite Australian songs is exactly that: big emotions, big melodies—music that makes her feel. “Every song I put on a playlist means something to me,” she says. “Most of these are songs that have made me reflect on a time, or a place, or a person, or a memory that means something to me. Most are melancholy—I’m not necessarily a sad person, I'm just attracted to moody songs.” Below, she talks more about highlights from her selections, from memories of first hearing them to songwriters she loves.\n\nSilverchair, “Miss You Love” \n“I've been obsessed with Silverchair since the very beginning. I watched every interview Daniel [Johns] did. I remember him saying people started playing 'Miss You Love' at their weddings and he laughed and said, ‘If they only knew the song is actually about not being in love, not believing in love and not caring about it.’ I thought that was the coolest thing I'd ever heard.” \n\nMissy Higgins, “Any Day Now”\n“I saw Missy Higgins play at the Troccadero in Surfers Paradise [in 2001]. She had just won triple j Unearthed and I had just started playing in a band. After watching her, I went home with this weird feeling of excitement—I knew I had all these songs but I was too scared to sing them on my own. She totally inspired me to go for it.” \n\nJapanese Wallpaper, “Between Friends” \n “I was very much 'between friends' myself when I heard this song. Needless to say, it hit pretty hard. I think Gab [Strum] is an incredible Australian producer and songwriter.”\n\nArchie Roach, “Took the Children Away”\n“I was lucky enough to be asked to sing with Archie at the Commonwealth Games [in 2018], and I was so incredibly nervous, but he calmed me right down. Archie has a way of making people feel warm and loved. His presence is so peaceful and addictive. I love all his songs, but this one in particular makes me want to burst into tears. I think it's important to let yourself feel those emotions when listening to special songs like this one.”\n\nJulia Stone, “Dance”\n“I still think this is one of the sexiest songs I've ever heard. I’m obsessed with Julia's music; she has such a unique voice.”"

"full": "“Each of these songs have great writing behind them,” Masked Wolf tells Apple Music about the songs in his handpicked playlist. “A storyline is key, and that’s what I get from this playlist.” He might be a hip-hop artist, but when it comes to his favorite Australian songs, there’s a surprising amount of rock ’n’ roll—and a couple pop hits. This playlist of his top Aussie songs is filled with big riffs, memorable choruses, early memories, and a few newer discoveries. “Some of these songs my dad played to me as a young child,” he says. “And some of them I only found out about in the recent years—yes, I live under a rock. But, as always, I can only connect to a song if there’s great writing and a certain energy, and all of my choices have that.” Listen here, and read on for more on his top picks.\n\nAC/DC, “Thunderstruck” \n“Go no further if we’re talking about energy. If you’re looking to pump yourself up, this is the song for you. I absolutely love this banger!”\n\nDaddy Cool, “Eagle Rock” \n“A song my dad constantly pounded into my brain as I grew up—and that is not a complaint. A very catchy chorus and a memory of me and my dad drinking some alcohol out the back, listening to this, is all I can ask for.” \n\nWolfmother, “Joker and the Thief”\n“I know this may sound weird, but this reminds me of a rock version of something The Beatles would write, and I’m a big Beatles fan. I absolutely love the feeling I get from this track, especially the a cappella breaks. I’m a fan of good song titles, and this one is amazing.”\n\nJet, “Are You Gonna Be My Girl”\n“Do you hear that bassline? It already has you hooked. One of my most favorite songs with the most catchiest writing I’ve ever heard. I wish I could have watched this song live. It’s another one my dad pounded into my brain.”\n\nJohn Farnham, “You're the Voice”\n “I heard it on commercials—I heard it everywhere, to be honest, one of the songs that showed me how important writing choruses can be for an amazing song. It’s something I grew up on and was riddled with it being in my brain because of how catchy it was. A truly amazing song.”"

"full": "“My choices are not an all-encompassing list of great Australian songs,” Ian Hulme tells Apple Music. “But they all represent a snapshot in time, an emotional moment captured and preserved forever.” As bassist and one of the founding members of classic pub rock band Choirboys, Hulme made sure this playlist of his favorite Australian songs was heavily steeped in ’70s and ’80s rock, alongside a few extra names, such as country icon Slim Dusty and singer-songwriters Angus & Julia Stone and Gotye. “Sitting down, listening, and just looking at the album covers, over and over,” he says, reflecting on his early years of musical discovery. “[Those tracks] just stick to a point of time in your life like an emotional signpost.” Read on for more on his favorite songs.\n\nDaddy Cool, “Eagle Rock”\n“The first track and band I really loved as a 14-year-old. Daddy Cool were it. They had a great rhythm section—the bass and drums had a magical feel. Ross Hannaford on guitar was outstanding.”\n\nBilly Thorpe, “Most People I Know Think That I’m Crazy” \n“I loved the Live! at Sunbury version. I’m sure I’ve played the album thousands of times. Billy Thorpe’s voice is simply amazing, his guitar playing rocked, and Gil Matthews on drums delivered. What a drummer.”\n\nRichard Clapton, “Girls on the Avenue”\n“I was a little older but this had the spirit of the Northern Beaches at the time—free and easy. A wonder flavor.”\n\nDivinyls, “Pleasure and Pain”\n“I first saw Divinyls at the Dee Why Hotel along with about 15 other people on a Wednesday night. It was amazing to see a Chrissy Amphlett performance in such a way. The band just blew everyone away, and within a couple of weeks the place was packed, you couldn’t move.”\n\nRose Tattoo, “Rock ’N’ Roll Outlaw”\n“I first saw Rose Tattoo at a music shop in Brookvale while I was buying guitar stuff. It must have been 1976 or ’77. Seeing a bunch of heavy-looking tattooed dudes in a music store was out of place and so intimidating. They looked tough and rough to this 18-year-old kid.”\n\nSlim Dusty, “A Pub With No Beer”\n“I was playing in a band called Hotlips at the Royal Antler Hotel in Narrabeen in about 1975. We had a residency there, we played every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday for a year or two. When the pub shut at 10 pm they would always play ‘A Pub With No Beer’ through the crappy little in-house ceiling speaker system. That was my introduction to Slim Dusty.” \n\nWolfmother, “Woman” \n“They were like a breath of fresh air. It was a bunch of guys going for warts and all. Their first album was like a magical moment in time captured and then jettisoned upon the world. Hard to do, hard to repeat.”\n\nIan Moss, “Tucker’s Daughter” \n“Just such a wonderfully uplifting melody from Don Walker that could not be presented by a better guitar and voice.”"

A hot cup of Milo in my hands, and Savage Garden blaring in the background on Rage. Days don’t get off to a better start than that. True artistry at its core. I have the utmost respect for their songwriting.” \n\nThe Kid LAROI & Justin Bieber, “STAY”\n“We recently crossed paths with The Kid LAROI at the studio in LA. He’s a sweet soul, with the humility and drive of a legendary artist in the making.”\n\nAmy Meredith, “Lying”\n“We wrote with Joel and Christian from Amy Meredith at the genesis of our band’s career. They were the gateways to realizing our love and passion for writing songs. Amy Meredith will always hold a special place in our hearts!”\n\nINXS, “Need You Tonight”\n“Every Australian band who dreams of playing on a global stage has studied INXS’s career and catalog. The ultimate blueprint for being an amazing band.” \n\nMAY-A, “Time I Love to Waste”\n“MAY-A is an amazing artist. We’ve been waiting to tour with her forever, and we’re going to play together on our Take My Hand tour this year. She is a beaming light of hope for the future of Australian music. I can’t wait to see what amazing things she achieves.”"

"full": "When The Weeknd released “Blinding Lights” in 2019, it marked the start of a new era in pop music. The track—crafted with songwriting giants Max Martin and Oscar Holter—not only took The Weeknd’s Abel Tesfaye into his imperial phase, it also made history, becoming the No. 1 song of all time on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. So it’s little surprise that it tops this playlist, which reveals the 200 tracks from the 2010s still on heaviest rotation in the UK now. The top 10 also features “Shape of You,” the Ed Sheeran megahit that’s so popular it has never dropped out of the Top 200 on Apple Music since its release in 2017. If the 2000s birthed streaming, the 2010s revealed its true impact, with a new generation of artists being propelled to the top via dizzying numbers—from Sheeran (who appears 12 times here) to Drake, Dua Lipa, Lewis Capaldi, Dave, and Harry Styles. Then there are the decade’s viral hits that we still can’t get enough of: see Tones And I’s “Dance Monkey” and CKay’s “Love Nwantiti (ah ah ah) [feat. Joeboy & Kuami Eugene] [Remix],” both in the top 10.\n\nBut the 2010s’ streaming revolution also gave birth to a breed of powerful new pop stars: genre-evasive trailblazers who have helped break down music’s frontiers. There’s Lil Nas X, who rode into superstardom via the country hit “Old Town Road”; Post Malone, whose music straddles hip-hop, R&B, and pop; and Doja Cat, who has continually leveraged social media to morph from viral sensation to hit machine, shuffling through genres like a pack of cards as she goes. This playlist also hints at what was to come by the time the 2010s closed out, with enduring hits by Dave, Stormzy, J Hus, and AJ Tracey signaling UK-made rap as the next unstoppable force of British music. Dive into this playlist for a look at the most lasting songs from an era that transformed music—and upended who was creating its biggest hits."

"full": "From Britpop wars to that Union Jack dress and the rise and rise of US hip-hop and R&B, the ’90s brought some almighty cultural moments on both sides of the Atlantic. And right now, our nostalgia for the decade is seemingly inextinguishable, born of a yearning for what many see as a simpler, more carefree time. This playlist reveals the 200 ’90s hits we’re still listening to most in the UK, beloved as much by those who were there the first time round as by the younger generations diving headfirst into ’90s culture today. It’s no surprise that Oasis—the biggest-selling band of the Britpop era—leads the way, with “Wonderwall” the single most-streamed song from the decade and “Live Forever” in seventh place. (This playlist also, perhaps, settles some old scores: While Oasis features 11 times in total, their bitter rivals Blur appear just three times, with “Song 2” their highest-charting track at No. 44.) The Notorious B.I.G., too, features twice in the top 10, with “Hypnotize” and “Big Poppa.” Biggie is just one of the towering US hip-hop figures whose ’90s hits we’re returning to again and again, alongside Eminem, Lauryn Hill, Dr. Dre, 2Pac, and Puff Daddy.\n\nIndeed, this was a decade that gave rise to indelible artists who changed music forever. Think Nirvana—whose “Smells Like Teen Spirit” is the sixth-most-listened-to song from the ’90s, and who ushered in a generation-capturing grunge sound that continues to inspire artists now. Then there’s national-treasure British artists: from Britpop icons Pulp to Spice Girls—who imbued young women everywhere with their effervescent girl power spirit—and Robbie Williams, who emerged from Take That in 1995 to become one of the UK’s most successful male pop stars. And artists who brought the UK’s underground dance scene straight into the mainstream remain on heavy rotation, including Faithless, The Prodigy, and Fatboy Slim. But not every enduring hit comes from an enduring name. Alongside TLC’s “No Scrubs,” Destiny’s Child’s “Say Ny Name,” and Blackstreet’s “No Diggity,” Goo Goo Dolls’ brooding “Iris” and Toploader’s twinkling “Dancing in the Moonlight” both feature in the top 10. More one-time hitmakers here who met the moment include Eagle-Eye Cherry, B*Witched, Vengaboys, and Seal. It’s hard to imagine a song as ebullient and silly as “C’est La Vie” being made today. But silliness is no bad thing: Just think of the brilliance—and staying power—of David Baddiel and Frank Skinner’s “Three Lions” (in at No. 53). \n\nThe ’90s was a decade of optimism and creativity, as well as angst and restless change. Anyone who lived through it will remember just how fervently music fans committed themselves to their chosen tribe. And whether you were Blur or Oasis, Britney or Christina, Robbie or Gary, there’s something in this playlist for everyone. Dive in to discover some of the most enduringly iconic sounds of a decade we’ll never forget."

"full": "Few songs are as recognizable—or smile-inducing—as Toto’s 1982 instant classic “Africa.” And as this playlist confirms, its sheen has hardly dissipated in the four decades since its release. Here, we’re celebrating the 200 hits from the 1980s that we’re still listening to most—and “Africa” comes out on top, a song as beloved by those who made it a worldwide smash back then as by the younger generations discovering it for the first time now. The songs that follow it are just as indelible, including Whitney Houston’s champagne-popping “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” and some of the era’s most enduring rock hits: Queen’s “Another One Bites the Dust,” Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’”—which has enjoyed a second coming thanks in part to its moment in the Glee and Sopranos limelight—and AC/DC’s “Back in Black,” a song (alongside the 1980 album of the same name) that propelled the band to become one of the world’s biggest. Fleetwood Mac’s glittering “Everywhere” is alongside all of those, the band’s prominence across these 200 tracks a sign of just how timeless their sound is. It is, too, being unearthed by a younger TikTok generation thanks to moment-meeting viral videos soundtracked by Fleetwood Mac hits.\n\nMany of the names that rose up during the ’80s became global phenomenons who changed music forever—and this playlist reveals those with the greatest staying power. Here, you’ll find Madonna and Prince, two of pop’s most powerful forces who exploded amid the game-changing arrival of MTV in 1981; George Michael and Wham! (Michael’s death in 2016 undoubtedly prompted a revived love of his back catalog); Elton John and Queen (whose repeat appearances in this playlist have surely been driven by recent high-profile biopics); Kate Bush; and Davie Bowie, who enjoyed his most commercially successful music during this decade. As for a classic album we can’t get enough of? The Stone Roses’ 1989 self-titled debut is one of them, with multiple tracks from it making their way into this playlist.\n\nThe ’80s was, of course, a time of restless musical innovation, and its impact is still reverberating across modern music now. With disco and punk relegated, new genres emerged such as New Wave and synth-pop (see a-ha’s classic “Take On Me,” which straddles both and which is in at number eight here) and, in the rock space, metal and indie (that Stone Roses record helped, in part, usher in the birth of the latter). Then there was the steady rise of R&B—repped here by Luther Vandross, Houston, Marvin Gaye (with the soaringly sensual “Sexual Healing”), and more—and the unstoppable ascent of hip-hop, N.W.A. and Run-DMC the two artists of the ’80s hip-hop era that come out on top in this playlist. Some of those genres were brought about by technological leaps forward, as were thrillingly singular moments in the modern-pop canon. Think Phil Collins’ vocoder- and drum-machine-powered “In the Air Tonight,” Prince’s “When Doves Cry”—another example of elite drum-machine wizardry—or Bronski Beat’s synth-pop queer anthem “Smalltown Boy,” a song that provided a vital message in the ’80s and which still sounds heart-stoppingly fresh (and urgent) now. \n\nIndeed, the most dazzling songs of the ’80s feel both plugged into their era and utterly forward-looking. And with all the bold new sounds the decade brought about, it’s perhaps no surprise that today’s modern-pop giants—including The Weeknd, Harry Styles, Dua Lipa, and Ed Sheeran—continue to delve into its riches in search of musical inspiration. Dive in for a celebration of a decade of decadence."

She’s easily one of the most intriguing artists out right now, unafraid of controversy and, perhaps more importantly, unafraid to simply be herself. She started the first weeks of the year with a pair of feature spots: one on Saweetie’s “Best Friend” and another on Ariana Grande’s “34+35 (Remix)” alongside Megan Thee Stallion. Then, just as she was preparing to attend the Grammys as both a performer and a three-time nominee, her song “Streets” went ultra-viral. The TikTok #SilhouetteChallenge created in its honor ruled the internet for what felt like an eternity, and Doja reaped the benefits right up the charts.\n\nHer crowning achievement and moment of arrival came with the release of her third album, Planet Her. The project proved a showstopping showcase of her kaleidoscopic pop, dancing along a spectrum of styles, both developing and popular. When it was all said and done, her domination was cemented everywhere, from the charts to the stages, including performances at the Billboard Music Awards, iHeartRadio Music Awards, Global Citizen, and others. She has amassed over 1.8 billion global streams. There’s no denying it: Doja Cat is a bona fide superstar."
